Ritesh Pai, who led TerraPay as president – products and solutions, has been appointed by PhonePe as chief executive officer – international payments.
Pai began his career at HDFC Bank and went on to work across BNP Paribas, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Yes Bank and Ratnakar Bank.
In his new job at PhonePe, Pai’s mandate is to lead the company’s international growth and expansion plans.
In October 2023 the fintech platform crossed 5 billion (5.33 billion) transactions via unified payments interface (UPI). It also expanded into financial services such as insurance, mutual funds, stockbroking, and lending and it announced its foray into stock broking with Share(dot)Market, in August 2023.
