Zee layoffs: Punit Goenka cuts tech and innovation centre by 50 percent

In line with his strategic plan focused towards achieving the targeted goals, ZEE's MD and CEO Punit Goenka proposed the implementation of a lean and streamlined management structure to the Board on April 5. The streamlining process included rationalisation of the workforce by 15 percent.

The Company recently announced the strategic realignment of its Revenue vertical, that is now being directly driven by the MD & CEO.

The alliance is also developing plans to offer integrated services to their customers that would extend beyond broadband to other services like OTT, IPTV, WIFI, VoIP/intercom and even bespoke CCTV solutions.

Both partners are looking to focus on growing the broadband business in Maharashtra initially, whilst setting the tone to expand services together in other markets.

The 3M Program Special Committee has also identified business verticals that require a critical assessment. This includes – 1) Margo Networks (Sugarbox) 2) Teleplay & Zindagi 3) Hipi 4) Weyyak and 5) English Cluster of Linear TV Business. The Special Committee has advised that the identified business verticals will need to substantially reduce losses and enhance their performance levels.
